Itinerary

Day 1Welcome to Guatemala; the Heart of the Mayan world, and transfer to Antigua:

Welcome by our team at the Aurora International Airport (GUA) and private transportation (at any time) to the beautiful and colonial City in ruins of La Antigua Guatemala (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), a magical town full of charm and probably the most visited one in the country.

Free time to explore (try to arrive before 5 pm to enjoy the sunset in Antigua with tea, coffee, or drinks), rest, and prepare ourselves for our upcoming transformative journey. Overnight in a comfortable hotel in Antigua.

Meals: None.
Lodging: Hotel (Antigua).
Activities: Wellcome transfer and sightseeing.

Day 2Antigua Guatemala walking tour and the Pacaya active volcano; also known as the torch of the Americas:

Breakfast and walking tour through Antigua, a UNESCO World Heritage Site visiting its most famous cobblestone streets, including its famous central plaza, cathedral, calle del arco (Arch street), jade stores, coffee shops, and fantastic handicraft markets. Lunch, and transfer to the pacific coast until the Pacaya Volcano and Calderas Lagoon national park. We will hike on its interpretive trails of massive, rugged dried lava fields, magma stones, and steaming boilers (scorching).

The volcano is surrounded by magnificent and breathtaking views of the Agua, Fuego & Acatenango volcanoes. This hike is the least challenging volcano hike, but that doesn’t mean that’s easy. It’s perfect for a group of travelers and families. We will connect with this impressive volcano’s energy, and if we are lucky enough, the Pacaya and Acatenango (both active volcanoes) will set up a lava show for us! Because just recently, Pacaya has become more active again. Transportation back and overnight in a comfortable hotel in Antigua.

Meals: breakfast and lunch.
Lodging: Hotel (Antigua).
Activities: Antigua walking tour and Pacaya active volcano hike.

Day 3Free day (I am getting lost in Antigua and I'm loving it).

Breakfast and time for you to get lost in Antigua because the rest of the day it’s entirely yours to explore the charming city. Visit a local cafe and try probably one of the best coffees you have ever tried, take photos of the beautiful streets, and don’t miss the Calle del Arco (Arch street), head to the multiple ruins and convents, and much more. Overnight in a comfortable hotel in Antigua.

Meals: breakfast.
Lodging: Hotel (Antigua).
Activities: Leisure.

Day 4Sacred archeological site of Iximche (the Mayan tree of life) and Lake Atitlan with its indigenous communities, social projects, and the ancient Mayan workshops of Juan La Laguna:

Early morning breakfast and the beginning of our journey through the Mayan highlands, most known as the sectors of our indigenous Mayan culture alive. Areas surrounded by beautiful landscapes of mountains, volcanoes, indigenous communities, and all kinds of crops until Iximche (Ixim = Corn & Chee = Tree). A very important and energetic site where the ancient Mayans founded their last capital, exploration of its palaces, plazas, ball game, its museum, and the continuation of our journey until Panajachel on the shores of Atitlan.

In Panajachel, we will take our boat and cross the Lake’s crystalline waters until the village of San Juan La Laguna. A small, picturesque, and charming indigenous town for a cultural afternoon, full of ancestral knowledge by visiting and learning from their community social projects focused on preserving alternative and natural medicine, primitivist painting, natural dyeing, beekeeping, and much more. Overnight in a comfortable Hotel in Atitlan.

Meals: Breakfast and lunch.
Lodging: Hotel (Lake Atitlan).
Activities: Iximche visit, Panajachel sightseeing, boat ride (Lake Atitlan), and San Juan La Laguna tour.

Day 5The Mayan sauna or temazcal, a free day to explore the beautiful lake and our special goodbye dinner in Antigua.

Aldous Huxley’s described Atitlan as “too much of a good thing, it touches the limit of the permissibly picturesque” and we know that you will just love it too.

Morning breakfast and the beginning of our day with the healing experience of the Temazcal (the house of hot stones), whose ancestral purpose is therapeutic. Seeking relaxation and detoxification of our body and calm for our mind until finding inner peace. Actually, after everything that we had done before, it was time to relax and pamper ourselves. The rest of the day it’s yours to explore the majestic and magical lake, so go for it, you will be amazed about this one-of-a-kind destination. The boat ride back to Pana and our return to Antigua during the afternoon and because it is your last night, we will have a perfect time celebrating life, taking you out for a lounge/bar hopping with a delicious special goodbye dinner. Overnight in a comfortable hotel in Antigua.

Meals: Breakfast and dinner.
Lodging: Hotel Antigua.
Activities: Temazcal and special goodbye dinner.

Day 6Final transfer to Guatemala City airport, goodbye & the end of our services:

Morning breakfast and our final transfer to the Airport to be there 3 hours before our departure time. Goodbye from our team and until the next time!

Meals: breakfast.
Lodging: none.
Activities: Exit transfer and sightseeing.
