Your Itinerary

DAY 01Welcome to Guatemala (Heart of the Mayan world) and Antigua transfer.

Welcome by your team at the Aurora International Airport (GUA) and transportation to the cosmopolitan and colonial City of La Antigua Guatemala (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a “pueblo magico” full of charm and probably the most visited one in the country.

Free and easy time to explore your colonial surroundings (try to arrive before midday to enjoy the sunset in Antigua with tea, coffee, or drinks), begin to connect with the local people and international community, and prepare yourself for your upcoming adventure travel in Guatemala.

Meals: Wellcome dinner.

Lodging: Luxury Hotel in Antigua.

Activities: Welcome transfer and sightseeing.

DAY 02The wild nature of Sierra de las Minas (Sierra of the Mines)

Morning typical breakfast and the begging of your adventure travel in Guatemala through the mystic west of the country, most known as the sectors of the spiny chaparral and areas surrounded by beautiful landscapes of mountains, indigenous communities, and all kinds of tropical crops until the rain forest, home of  the Sierra De Las Minas (the biggest mountain chain in the country and that extends until Mexico).

The beaten path road is going to take you to the house of your local guest, the famous “Don Carlos”, a historic character who was the first one to start exploring these huge mountains. Lunch followed by a history telling about your lush surroundings and time to buckle up, because you are going to experience some of the best 4×4 roads and trails in all Guatemala.

Afterwards, continue with your adventure by hiking until the “Salto Del Angel” (the angels jump), a huge rock on top of the mountains with the best panoramic views of all Sierra De Las Minas.

Meals: All.

Lodging: Glamping (Kuautemayan base camp).

Activities: 4×4 off-road adventures, history telling, hike and wild glamping.

DAY 03The Mayan underworld at the Mucbilha caves

Base camp typical morning breakfast and your drive towards Raxruha until the Mucbilha caves, a truly hidden complex of caves which are still to be discovered.

Lunch at your new campsite and the beginning of your journey towards the Mayan infraworld, because for the ancient Mayans, both caves and caverns are extremely energetic places and the entrances to the underworld on earth, so get ready for a tubing adventure and to navigate through the rivers of the cave.

These ones are really immense and impressive caves, where the cave of “el venado” (the deer cave) stands out, because it contains several vestiges and remains of utilitarian and ceremonial Mayan ceramics, in addition to the stellar cave of “el jardin”  where you can appreciate a forest full of life growing inside of the cave.

At night, get ready for a bonfire and a delicious camping dinner under the light of the mayan moon.

Meals: All.

Lodging: Glamping (Kuautemayan base camp).

Activities: Cave exploring and tubing, history telling, bonfire and wild glamping.

DAY 04The Mayan Sacred site of El Ceibal (the ceiba three)

Typical breakfast followed by a free and easy morning and your drive to El Ceibal (one of the most important cities for the ancient Mayan civilization) and located on the banks of the extensive river “La Pasión” (the Passion river).

This archaeological site was named in this way because of the large number of ceiba trees that are found throughout the area, and it is very important to mention that the ceiba is the most sacred tree for the Mayans (symbolizing the union between heaven, earth and the underworld).  It has a large number of ancient structures, including temples, palaces, ball courts, as well as beautiful stone stelae carved in high quality and where the oldest circular astronomical observatory is located.

Lunch on site, free and easy afternoon for you to engage with the tropical and lush jungle and to end your day, a hot jungle dinner back at your campsite.

Meals: All.

Lodging: Glamping (Kuautemayan base camp).

Activities: 4×4 off-road adventures, El Ceibal exploration, history telling, bonfire and wild glamping.

DAY 05The Mayan Sacred site of Aguateca or K'inich Pa' Witz (The Lord of the Mountain with a Slit)

Early wake up (before sunrise) and your drive to Sayaxche town until La Pasion river for the beginning of your adventure in its rapid waters surrounded by lush jungle vegetation and infinite wildlife.  Sunrise in the middle of the jungle followed by your breakfast and the exploration of the sacred site.

An ideal destination for the lovers of nature, history and adventure, and a city that stands out for its impressive structures and walls.

Without a doubt, its main attraction is its entrance, a giant crack created thousands of years ago by the movements of the tectonic plates found in the country. As you go through it, the light becomes intermittent, thus creating an atmosphere of mysticism (really as if you were going through a portal).

Lunch and the continuation of your adventure trip by the river until  an eco hotel located in the middle of the jungle which when being built, discovered that there were mayan ruins in the place, so the construction stopped but some rooms which were built already stayed. Truly a unique and one-of-a-kind destination.

Meals: All.

Lodging: Boutique Eco-hotel.

Activities: Boat ride – Aguateca expedition – history telling.

DAY 06Isla de Flores (Island of Flowers) and your quick-local flight to Guatemala city and Antigua

Breakfast and a free and easy morning for you to engage with your destination.  So take some time for yourself, swim or rest, read or hang out and integrate your experiences.

Boat ride back to Sayaxche and your transportation to the picturesque Isla de Flores, located in the middle of the Peten Itza Lake (or the soothsayer priest of the water).  Lunch and the visit and the colorful Island until your local flight back to Guatemala city and because it is your last night in the country, you are going to have the perfect time celebrating life, adventure and transformation with a special goodbye dinner in the cosmopolitan city of Antigua.
