Your Itinerary

Day 01Welcome to Guatemala (Heart of the Mayan world) and Antigua Guatemala (free & easy).

Welcome by your team at the Aurora International Airport (GUA) and transportation to the cosmopolitan and colonial City of La Antigua Guatemala (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a “pueblo magico” full of charm and probably the most visited one in the country. 

Free and easy time to explore your colonial surroundings (try to arrive before midday to enjoy the sunset in Antigua with tea, coffee, or drinks), begin to connect with the local people and international community, and prepare yourself for your upcoming transformative journey.

Meals: Welcome dinner. 

Lodging: Boutique Hotel in Antigua.

Activities: Welcome transfer and sightseeing.

Day 02Iximche Mayan sacred site (the Mayan tree of life), the marvelous Atitlan Lake and the healing Temazcal

Morning typical breakfast and the beginning of your journey through the Mayan highlands, most known as the sectors of the indigenous Mayan culture alive. Areas surrounded by beautiful landscapes of mountains, volcanoes, indigenous communities, and all kinds of crops until Iximche (Ixim = Corn & Chee = Tree).

A very important and energetic sacred site where the ancient Mayans founded their last capital, exploration of its palaces, plazas, ball game, its museum, and its fire ceremonial space.

Continue your journey through the Mayan highlands until Panajachel, for your boat ride to the holistic and charming town of San Marcos La Laguna where your retreat center is located.

Free and easy afternoon for you to connect with the place, and later on, experience the rewarding and healing Mayan sauna or Temazcal (the house of hot stones), whose ancestral purpose is therapeutic. Seeking relaxation and detoxification of your body and calm for your mind until finding inner peace.

Day 03Atitlan Lake with its indigenous communities and Mayan workshops of the picturesque San Juan La Laguna

Aldous Huxley described Atitlan as “too much of a good thing, it touches the limit of the permissibly picturesque”.

Morning yoga, followed by a free and easy morning for you to take some time to rest, read or hang out and integrate your experiences.

Lunch, followed by boat ride to cross the crystalline waters of the lake to explore and connect with the indigenous town of San Juan, in a day of ancestral knowledge by visiting and learning from their community social projects, focused on preserving alternative and natural medicine, primitivist painting, natural dyeing, and much more.

Meals: All.

Day 04San Pedro volcano hike and the healing Temazcal

Morning yoga practice, breakfast and your boat ride to cross the lake waters until San Pedro´s town, located on the slopes of the volcano.

Another small and picturesque town on the Lake and the place where your volcano ascension beggins through tropical forests, coffee plantations and avocado farms. 

This volcano is the smallest in the lake, compared to its really big brothers, the Toliman and Atitlan volcanoes), and it is considered as a rewarding activity to activate your body  and to be able to witness the best panoramic views of all the Lake.

Lunch in town and boat ride back to your retreat center for a free & easy afternoon followed by the healing mayan sauna (temazcal) and a campfire at night.

Meals: All. 

Lodging: Retreat Center in Lake Atitlan. 

Activities: Morning yoga, boat rides Lake Atitlan, San Pedro volcano hike, Temazcal and Bonfire.

Day 05Sunrise paddle Board in the mystical Lake and your sacred Mayan fire and cacao ceremony

Start your day with the rewarding sunrise experience in the middle of the lake and its volcanoes, followed by your morning yoga practice, breakfast and a free and easy morning.  

Lunch and the continuity of your free and easy time until late afternoon for your immersion in the Mayan sacred fire and your connection with the spirit of the “kakaw” or cocoa also known by  the ancient Mayans as the “flesh of the Gods” and consider medicine for your heart and soul.

Meals: All. 

Lodging: Retreat Center in Lake Atitlan. 

Activities: Sunrise paddle board, morning yoga, free & easy morning and afternoon, and sacred fire and cacao ceremony.

Day 06A cultural and artistic experience in Antigua Guatemala, and your goodbye dinner

Morning yoga practice, local breakfast and your boat trip back to the other side of the Lake (Panajachel) time to visit its beautiful town, followed by your transport to Antigua for your walking trip on its famous cobblestone streets, visiting its central plaza, cathedral, jade stores (the sacred stone of the Mayans), it’s fantastic handicraft markets, and much more.

Visit a local cafe and try probably one of the best coffees you have ever tried, take photos of Antigua´s unique stores, and the Calle del Arco (Arch street), El Mirador El Cerro de la Cruz (with a fantastic panoramic view of the city) and because it is your last night in Guatemala, you are going to have the perfect time celebrating life and transformation with a delicious goodbye dinner.

Meals: Breakfast and dinner.

Activities: Morning yoga, boat ride, Panajachel visit, Antigua walking tour.

Day 07Final exit transfer to Guatemala City airport (GUA) and the end of your services

Morning breakfast and your final transfer to the Airport.

Goodbye from your team and until the next time! Buen Camino.

Follow the instructions of your expert Tour leader / spiritual guide and local guides. They really know what they are doing. Ask them, question them, and also connect with them. They are going to surprise you.

Be prepared for the tropics and pack multiple changes of clothes: 

Clothing for warm and hot weather during the day: two pairs of pants, two pairs of shorts, three changes of shirts, a rain poncho, a swimsuit, and a sweater or jacket to wear at night. Walking shoes, hiking boots, sneakers, and sandals are all acceptable. 

Quick-dry clothing (especially a pair of convertible pants that zip at the knee to convert into shorts) is recommended for your visit to the tropical areas. 

Always bring a towel, and please don’t forget sunblock, bug spray, a flashlight, a sun hat, a lightweight raincoat or poncho, anti-diarrheal medicine, and wet wipes.

*Important reminder: Be conscious of what you pack, and always keep sustainability in mind.
