Your Itinerary

Day 01Welcome to Guatemala (Heart of the Mayan world) and Antigua Guatemala (free & easy).

Welcome by your team at the Aurora International Airport (GUA) and transportation to the cosmopolitan and colonial City of La Antigua Guatemala (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a “pueblo magico” full of charm and probably the most visited one in the country. 

Free and easy time to explore your colonial surroundings (try to arrive before midday to enjoy the sunset in Antigua with tea, coffee, or drinks), begin to connect with the local people and international community, and prepare yourself for your upcoming transformative journey.

Meals: Dinner.

Lodging: Luxury Hotel in Antigua.

Activities: Welcome transfer and sightseeing.

Day 02The marvelous Atitlan Lake with a sacred Mayan fire and cacao ceremony and the healing Temazcal (sauna)

Aldous Huxley described Atitlan as “too much of a good thing, it touches the limit of the permissibly picturesque”

Typical breakfast and the beginning of your journey through the Mayan highlands, most known as the sectors of the indigenous Mayan culture alive.

Areas surrounded by beautiful landscapes of mountains, volcanoes, indigenous communities, and all kinds of crops until the town of Panajachel, located on the shores of one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, Atitlan.

Boat ride to the holistic and charming town of San Marcos La Laguna where your retreat center is located and enjoy a free and easy afternoon for you to connect with the place followed by your immersion in the Mayan sacred fire and your deep connection with the spirit of the “kakaw” or cocoa also known by the ancient Mayans as the “flesh of the Gods” and consider medicine for your heart and soul.

Finish your day with the rewarding and healing experience of the Mayan sauna or Temazcal (the house of hot stones), whose ancestral purpose is therapeutic. Seeking relaxation and detoxification of your body and calm for your mind until finding inner peace.

Day 03Atitlan Lake with its indigenous communities and Mayan workshops of the picturesque San Juan La Laguna

Morning yoga, followed by a free and easy morning for you to take some time to rest, read or hang out and integrate your experiences.

Lunch, and your boat ride to cross the crystalline waters of the lake to explore and connect with the indigenous town of San Juan, in a day of ancestral knowledge by visiting and learning from their community social projects, focused on preserving alternative and natural medicine, primitivist painting, natural dyeing, and much more.

Meals: Breakfast & dinner. 

Lodging: Retreat Center Lake Atitlan. 

Activities: Morning yoga, free & easy morning, boat rides Lake Atitlan, San Juan La Laguna visit.

Day 04Your quick-local flight to the Mayan lowlands with its mighty jungle and the Lake Peten Itza

Morning yoga practice, free and easy time and your boat trip back to the other side of the Lake (Panajachel) followed by your transport to Guatemala city airport for your quick-local flight to El Peten, the true home of the Mayan secrets hidden in the lush jungle.

Arrival at the Mayan World Airport (FRS) and your visit to the stunning and lush area of El Remate, located at the shores of Lake Peten Itza (the water priest).

Meals: Breakfast and dinner.

Lodging: Luxury Hotel in El Peten. 

Activities: Morning yoga, fee & easy morning time, boat ride, quick-local flight (GUA – FRS) and leisure time in El Remate.

Day 05The Cerro Cahuí biotope (or the giant crocodile of the lake)

Breakfast and a guided visit to explore your unique surroundings and connect with the impressive jungle at El Cerro Cahui. 

A protected reserve of humid tropical forest whose name means giant crocodile due to the shape of the hill and that can be perfectly observed from Lake Petén Itzá. This biotope is home to a large number of different species of mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds and also has several panoramic viewpoints with impressive views of the Lake.

Lunch and a free and easy afternoon for you to take some time to rest, read or hang out and integrate your experiences.

Meals: Breakfast and dinner. 

Lodging: Luxury Hotel in El Peten. 

Activities: Cerro Cahui visit and free & easy afternoon.

Day 06The majestic Tikal (World Heritage Site) and your goodbye dinner in Antigua

Breakfast followed by your exploration of the impressive sacred Mayan site of Tikal (the City of the voices), a UNESCO World Heritage site that was one of the most powerful Mayan kingdoms.

Tikal is a really strong and energetical site, whose history begins around 2000 years A.C., and today, archaeologists are still working on the site, finding day to day more evidence of our ancient civilization.

Connect with its mysticism, magic and decipher the greatest mysteries and enigmas of this impressive civilization as you walk through its dense jungle. 

Among its remarkable structures excels the Great Jaguar (or Temple 1), an icon for the Mayas, located in the Central Acropolis, Temple 2 (or the Masks), the Lost World, the Window Palace, and the Temple 4 (or the two-headed serpents) that it’s considered one of the tallest pre-Columbian temples of all the Americas.

Drive back to El Remate followed by your afternoon local flight back to Guatemala city and Antigua, and because it is your last night you are going to have the perfect time celebrating life and transformation with a delicious goodbye dinner.

Meals: Breakfast and dinner.

Activities: Tikal expedition, quick-local flight (FRS – GUA), goodbye dinner.

DAY 07Final exit transfer to Guatemala City airport (GUA) and the end of your services

Morning breakfast and your final transfer to the Airport.

Follow the instructions of your expert Tour leader / spiritual guide and local guides. They really know what they are doing. Ask them, question them, and also connect with them. They are going to surprise you.

Be prepared for the tropics and pack multiple changes of clothes: 

Clothing for warm and hot weather during the day: two pairs of pants, two pairs of shorts, three changes of shirts, a rain poncho, a swimsuit, and a sweater or jacket to wear at night. Walking shoes, hiking boots, sneakers, and sandals are all acceptable. 

Quick-dry clothing (especially a pair of convertible pants that zip at the knee to convert into shorts) is recommended for your visit to the tropical areas. 

Always bring a towel, and please don’t forget sunblock, bug spray, a flashlight, a sun hat, a lightweight raincoat or poncho, anti-diarrheal medicine, and wet wipes.
