DAY 02Iximche Mayan sacred site (the Mayan tree of life) and Lake Atitlan with its indigenous communities and Mayan workshops of Juan La Laguna

Morning typical breakfast and the beginning of your journey through the Mayan highlands, most known as the sectors of the indigenous Mayan culture alive. Areas surrounded by beautiful landscapes of mountains, volcanoes, indigenous communities, and all kinds of crops until Iximche (Ixim = Corn & Chee = Tree).

A very important and energetic sacred site where the ancient Mayans founded their last capital, and your exploration of its palaces, plazas, ball game, its museum, and its fire ceremonial zone. A place full of history and mysticism.

Later on, continue your way to the town of Panajachel, located on the shores of one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, Atitlan, and the place where you are going to take a boat ride and cross its crystalline waters until the small, picturesque, and charming town of San Juan La Laguna.

Meals: Breakfast.

Lodging: Boutique Hotel in Lake Atitlan.

Activities: Iximche visit, boat rides (Lake Atitlan) and San Juan (tour & workshops).

DAY 03Paddle Board in the mystical Lake and your sacred Mayan fire & kakaw (cacao) ceremony

Aldous Huxley described Atitlan as “too much of a good thing, it touches the limit of the permissibly picturesque” .

Early breakfast followed by paddle board and kayaking on the Lake’s crystalline and calm waters surrounded by its majestic 03 volcanoes (San Pedro, Atitlan, and Toliman).

Experience the day-to-day life of the Lake inhabitants, standing out among them their multiple farmers and fishers, and take a boat ride to visit the holistic town of San Marcos La Laguna, a small but charming shire where the international community and the local people converge for your immersion in the Mayan sacred fire and your connection with the spirit of the “kakaw” or cocoa also known by the ancient Mayans as the “flesh of the Gods” and consider pure medicine for your heart and soul.

Lunch followed by your boat ride back to Panajachel and your drive to Antigua.

Meals: Breakfast.

Lodging: Boutique Hotel in Antigua.

Activities: Paddleboard, Mayan sacred fire and cacao ceremony and boat rides (Lake Atitlan).

DAY 04Joya de Ceren (also known as the Americas Pompeii), Lake Coatepeque and San Salvador city.

Morning breakfast and your transportation through the Salvadoran route until the friendly neighbor’s country of El Salvador (the savior).

Borders and customs formalities check, followed by your exploration of the one- of-a-kind Joya de Cerén (a World Heritage Site), with an outstanding universal value, and crucial Mayan sacred site because its vestiges revealed important information for the better comprehension of the everyday life of the ancient Mayans.

Admire a pre-classic Maya farming village preserved remarkably intact under layers of volcanic ash  (because a volcano eruption buried the village).

It really is a unique place in all the Mayan lands and one of the most important sacred sites because it shows the remains of the best preserved pre-Hispanic village in Mesoamerica. Allowing you to observe the daily life of the indigenous settlements before the Spanish invasion by showing the remains of a small farm that includes some elements such as a bed, the food storage area, the sauna (or temazcal) and the shaman’s house (or timekeeper – religious leader), who could have been a woman.

Continue your way for lunch at the volcanic Coatepeque Lake (the Hill of Snakes).

This marvelous lake is around 50,000 years old and experienced a fierce period of mega-telluric activity that ended up with a massive explosion and leaving a huge gap of more than 20 kilometers radius and about two kilometers deep, which began a long process capturing rainy and underground waters to become a special lake.

Boat ride on its crystal clear waters and your drive to San Salvador city.

Meals: Breakfast and dinner.

Lodging: Boutique Hotel in San Salvador city.

Activities: Transportation to El Salvador, border crossing, Joya de Ceren visit, boat ride in Coatepeque Lake and San Salvador city visit.

DAY 05Tamanique Waterfalls and the world-famous pacific coast of La Libertad, with El Tunco Beach (the surf Capital in Latin America).

Then continue with your trip to El Tunco Beach, one of the favorite destinations for those looking for fun, sun, sea, nightlife, and some of the best waves to surf in all of America.
