Borders and customs formalities check, lunch and your exploration of the magical Copan (UNESCO World Heritage Site) with an outstanding universal value and a mystical aura, that is still somewhat lost, and it’s now being rediscovered.
Considered by many as one of the most spectacular cities of the Maya, it is internationally acclaimed because of the maximum artistic expressions represented on multidimensional stone carving, for the elaboration of unique stelaes, ceremonial altars and more.
Itts main complex consists of the Acropolis and plazas with an impressive stadium opening onto a mound with numerous richly sculptured monoliths, and the Hieroglyphic Stairway Plaza, with a monumental stairway that includes the most extended text in the Mayan world.
Since the sites sit in an unbelievably lush valley, it is easy to spot a variety of local animals that roam around the ruins, among those are monkeys, guacamayas (large parrots), macaws, sloths, and peccaries, among others.

A privileged Mayan city developed next to the Rio Grande (Big River) or Motagua where the most important stone for the Mayans is located, the jade.
Historically, Quirigua (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) was deeply connected to Copan, and is a marvelous Mayan sacred site and that is definitely a must for the awakened travelers’ with knowledge and passion for the ancient arts.
It is also considered as the home of the biggest ancient monuments of all the Americas, standing out especially its stelas (actually books written in stone telling us the site’s history) in the Mayan world.
The famous stela E that is almost 11 meters high and the zoomorph P (a supreme carved art piece).
Drive to Rio Dulce (the Sweet River), relax, jump on the water, lunch and continue your way to the Mayan lowlands and lush jungles of El Peten until the natural reserve of El Cerro Cahui (a protected area) located next to the crystal clear waters of Lake Peten Itza.

Early morning transportation and exploration of the impressive sacred Mayan site of Tikal (the City of the voices), a UNESCO World Heritage site that was one of the most powerful Mayan kingdoms.
So get ready for the unique and rewarding experience of seeing and feeling the Mayan jungle’s dawn from the highest part of Templo IV (or the Bicephalous Serpent).
Tikal is a really strong and energetical site, whose history begins around 2000 years A.C., and today, archaeologists are still working on the site, finding day to day more evidence of our ancient civilization.
Connect with its mysticism, magic and decipher the greatest mysteries and enigmas of this impressive civilization as you walk through its dense jungle.
Among its remarkable structures excels the Great Jaguar (or Temple 1), an icon for the Mayas, located in the Central Acropolis, Temple 2 (or the Masks), the Lost World, the Window Palace, and the Temple 4 (or the two-headed serpents) that it’s considered one of the tallest pre-Columbian temples of all the Americas.
Drive back to El Remate for lunch, followed by your visit to la Isla de Flores before your afternoon local flight back to Guatemala city and Antigua.

Quick-dry clothing (especially a pair of convertible pants that zip at the knee to convert into shorts) is recommended for your visit to the tropical areas.
